Pebble Beach Residence
By paring down and refreshing the palette of this home, Collective Design was able to highlight and celebrate the existing materials — redwood interior paneling, red oak floor, and fir beams & ceiling. By removing all but one of the kitchen walls, the user has an unobstructed view of the living, kitchen, and dining spaces, which reveal themselves as you move through the space. The home, perched above a cove, was built on the radius of the ocean shore below. This angle was used to design the floating kitchen volumes— including the fifteen foot kitchen island. Without a right-angle to be found, this house proved to be a worthwhile challenge.
